# Create and publish a document in ClearPolicy

> Learn how to create a document using the rich-text editor, a PDF or Word upload, or import from Google Drive or OneDrive, then publish it so you can send requests.

Before you can send attestation requests, you need a published document. ClearPolicy gives you several ways to get content in — write it directly, upload a PDF or Word file, or import from Google Drive or OneDrive — and keeps a full revision history so you can update content at any time without affecting past completions.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Go to Documents and click Create Document">
    Open the **Documents** section from the main navigation. Click **Create Document** to choose how you want to add content.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Choose a creation method">
    Select how you want to add your content:

    * **Upload PDF or Word** — Upload an existing PDF or Word document (Word is converted to PDF).
    * **Pick from Google Drive** — Connect Google and import a document from Drive.
    * **Pick from OneDrive** — Connect OneDrive and import a Word document or PDF.
    * **Use ClearPolicy Editor** — Write and format content directly in ClearPolicy.
    * **Browse Templates** — Start from a pre-made policy template.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Add a title">
    Give your document a clear, descriptive title. You can rename it later in the document’s **Settings** (gear in the header).
  </Step>

  <Step title="Write or edit your content">
    If you chose the rich-text editor, use the built-in editor to write and format your document content. For uploads and Drive or OneDrive imports, your content is already loaded and ready to review.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Save as draft or publish the revision">
    When you are ready, choose one of the following:

    * **Save as draft** — Saves your work without making the document available for requests.
    * **Publish** — Publishes the current revision and makes it available for sending requests.
  </Step>
</Steps>

<Note>
  A document must be published before you can send attestation requests. Drafts are not available for sending. After you open a document, ClearPolicy shows the **Compliance** tab by default — use **Revisions** to edit content or create a new version, and open **Settings** (gear in the header) for name, groups, and archive options.
</Note>

<Tip>
  You can create a new draft revision at any time from the document’s **Revisions** tab (**New Draft**). Previously completed requests remain valid for the revision they were completed on — updating content does not invalidate past acknowledgments.
</Tip>

<Info>
  Downloadable PDFs are available for published revisions. From **Revisions**, select a published revision to preview or download the file.
